Vehicle Insulation and Refrigerating Units
Refrigeration Boxes and Van Insulation
FrigoBox insulated bodies and FrigoVan insulation systems.
After having established herself as a reliable partner in stationary refrigeration and air-conditioning, it was a natural continuation that Seal, Ltd. started her activity in the field of thermal insulation for mobile cooling and refrigeration.
For establishing a firm foothold in the sphere, based on deep research and optimisation, the company developed her own technology for manufacturing vehicle-intended insulation systems.
Those systems are generally differentiated into two main directions.
FrigoVan – Insulation solutions suitable for vans, trucks, and vehicles with existing cargo compartments. Insulation comprises polyurethane foam of different thickness, closely dependent on the intended temperature range. Inside surfaces are glass-fibre-resin (GRP) composite, coloured after RAL 9016. Front wall and ceiling are reinforced to hold the cooling unit. Floors are also insulated with PU, water-resistant plywood and a durable, long-lasting self-levelling covering.
FrigoBox – insulated and refrigerated boxes, suited for vehicles with frames. The reefers are constructed of walls and roofs manufactured and combined through unique technology. These are PU-sandwich panels with inner and outer surfaces of GRP composites, with reinforcement as needed. The front panel and roof are also reinforced for mounting the refrigeration/cooling unit.
Two main types of insulation are used:
– For fresh/chilled products (0–3°C): wall thickness of 65 mm, K ≤ 0.7 W/m²k.
– For frozen products (-18° to -20°C): wall thickness of 85 mm, K ≤ 0.4 W/m²k.
Advantages of FrigoBox insulation:
– Custom-made reefer, tailored to any and all personal requirements
– Superb materials and components – carefully chosen for best customer value
– Lightweight construction compared with similar products, while durability and longevity are retained
– Aesthetic outer appearance
To further reduce temperature losses during load/unload with doors open, silicon curtains may be installed at the doors.

Insulation of Existing Truck Bodies
Numerous are the advantages that insulated boxes, known also as reefers and insulated superstructures, have over insulated vans – much larger cargo capacity and docking conveniences, to mention as a start. However, the cost of the boxes surpasses by far the cost of insulating a van.
Cost is a major concern, especially for small and mid-sized companies, which are inherently unable to enjoy economies of scale. True to her tradition of seeking and finding optimal solutions, Seal, Ltd. has for years been active in the field, generally in two directions:
– Manufacturing and installation of new reefers
– Conversion of existing non-insulated boxes into refrigerated ones
Manufacturing of insulation and insulated panels is done completely in-house and has been a major part of the company's business for more than five years. Thanks to a unique combination of conservatism and innovation – using tried-and-tested materials and methods alongside new ones – the company has turned production into a source of high-quality, inexpensive insulation solutions.
The new insulated boxes are constructed of insulated panels of unique composition – smooth GRP surfaces, polyurethane filling, and reinforcement on the edges to strengthen both the panel and the bond between panels in the reefer. The surfaces combine aesthetic appearance, compliance with sanitary requirements, and exceptional durability.
The floor panels are constructed to hold the box, the cargo and the load, and to withstand road conditions that vary vastly with the seasons.
The company has also developed a technology for converting existing truck bodies into isothermal ones by laying insulation inside. The benefit is obvious – a plain vehicle is transformed into a specialized one, at far lower cost than buying and installing a purpose-built reefer.
The company's products in this respect carry the trademark FrigoBox, backed by professionalism, experience, innovation, and concern for the customer.
Insulation of Vans and Minibuses
One of the most popular solutions for retail delivery of perishable and food products is, undoubtedly, the use of thermo-insulated vans.
When it comes to transporting small loads of individually packed parcels, the advantages of the refrigerated van over trucks and reefers are more than obvious – much lower initial investment and great economy in running costs.
Particularly great cost-effectiveness is achieved by converting used vans into refrigerated ones. In most cases 'new life' is given to a tried-and-tested, reliable vehicle. Beside the new functionality, the internal glossy GRP surfaces add aesthetics too.
Seal, Ltd. developed and optimized a technology and system for converting a common van into a refrigerated vehicle. The company's experience in these conversions is vast – tens of vehicles have been converted to date.
Great attention and effort is paid to insulating the doors – their complex configuration can be a cause of cooling-energy loss due to imperfect insulation construction.
For each particular case the optimal insulation configuration is designed and engineered – degree of insulation (fresh/frozen), surface covers, etc.
The company's products in this activity carry the trademark FrigoVan.
